Batting for Stitchery's and Quilting
You can purchase blankets in natural colors at Wal-mart for around $5.00 for a twin size. They work great for the batting for your stitchery's. They don't stretch out and they lay flat. The finished product is great! Washable! You can get a lot of small stitchery's out of one twin size blanket. If you are making a quilt, they come in all sizes so you can trim them down to your quilt size or make your quilt to fit the blanket.
Coloring for your Stitchery's
After I draw the picture I want to embroider. I lay my fabric on a piece of batting. Then color my picture with colored pencils. It gives the stitchery a soft look and the colors blend how I want them. You can make your colors as light or as dark as you want them. Any colored pencils will work. But I would recommend a good set. Not one from the dollar store. Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann fabrics and AC Moore all have a good variety.
