I have been designing and making Light Bulb Ornaments since 1998.  Below you will find many examples of Light Bulb Ornaments that "I" have designed and made. Please do not steal my designs. They have a Copy Right. Thank  You! You may make these for friends, family and profit but please give me the credit that is due me. You can find many different light bulb ornaments on the internet but you won't find these other than here on my website. I have searched the net to find out what is used for coating these Light Bulb Ornaments and not one of the sites that I looked at said they used SIZING on their light bulbs. Sizing is a must if you want a light bulb that will rarely break and it makes it easier to paint on as well.  I use acrylic sizing that you can purchase in your craft supply stores. Because I made so many of them I bought it in the 8 oz. bottles. One bottle covers many light bulbs. Below are some photos of my ornaments and pictures of some of the work preparing them.  I will explain more as we go down the page of the ornaments. Before you apply anything you must clean the light bulb with alcohol  & water first. It will take off all residue.

Here is a list of GENERAL Supplies needed for the ornaments below:

Underneath the photo of each ornament, I will add the extra things I used in making them. Supplies needed: Sizing, All paint is acrylic, Black paint, white paint, flesh colored paint, pink or rose paint for cheeks, red paint, gold cord for hanger, Gloss finish, Something to hold your light bulbs while they dry, ( I used some plastic closet hangers that had square holes in them and took them apart) For the miniature light bulbs I used tops of shoe boxes and cut holes in them to hold them,  glue gun, These ones right below are made out of regular sized household light bulbs. I used burnt out light bulbs that people saved for me and had to buy new ones to keep up with supply and demand. I have sold over 10 Thousand Light Bulb Ornaments since 1998.

The importance of sizing andapplying paint to the bare light bulbs is  to make sure they are durable. If you are selling them or making them for someone who has small children, without these things the bulb would shatter.

These Ornaments

are made out of

the miniature

Christmas

light bulbs

These Light Bulb ornaments are made out of the big light bulbs that are put into our street lights you see in every town. There are so many different shaped light bulbs, it's always fun to see what I can come up with next.

I also designed a fleece Santa and Penguin last year but can't seem to find the photos of them. (I just moved so when I get everything out I will get photos for you to see of the other ones I have designed and made.

These are all covered with  fleece. In the photo's below you can see how my work area and what they looked like before they were all finished. Even though these are covered entirely, they still were all cleaned, with sizing and a coat of white paint. The heads are made out of foam balls. Cut to fit on the top of the light bulb.

Below I have made a pattern you can use for the stocking hats I made for my ornaments. For the miniature ornaments their hats were made out of cuff ribbing. For extra large light bulbs just enlarge the pattern.
